Sandra Marín Garcia - Ph Ida Zenna
This was the first time I saw a premiere of TLT, my company, my ex company, without being part of them, without being part of the city, as soon as I'm working in Milano, without any clou of the steps, costumes, staging, scenography.
Just as a normal person (or better say finally as a normal person?) watching a ballet.
Was not easy to handle with my emotions at the beginning, my heart was beating fast furious, like always, and I was just trying to breath and to calm down.
Then the curtain opened, revealing a fairy stage that brought me immediately in another dimension, almost an abstract paint, where often the gravity loose its meaning, twisting slightly your thoughts and perceptions.
What can I say, aside from the great technical level of all the dancer, the interesting dramaturgy behind the steps and story, the magic of the orchestra, the intelligent ideas, the costumes, lights and changes that entertained me constantly ?
Was a great pleasure to watch them dancing on a style that reminded me so much Mats Ek and the Cullberg Ballet but with that touch of TLT that I love and that makes everything more interesting and contemporary, I would say.
Carabosse (Sandra Marín Garcia) was outrageous and I was proud of my colleagues, watching them dancing together with a dancer that I consider one of the best in the dance scene, since I saw Dark Matter by Crystal Pite.
Jim The Blok was an amazing prince, with such a quality of movement and I found Chiara Dal Borgo self-confident, self-assured, really mature, mistress of the stage. Really good both together.
I would have enjoyed to see Ihsan Rustem and Salomè Martins dancing a bit more, but I understood was not possible, for for the reduced possibility of distribution of roles in the company of only ten people, but still... It's always a pity to see great dancers not performing enough time to allowed me to enjoy completely of their beauty and art.
I know, I'm egoist. So, sorry. (smile)
In short, considering that Sleeping Beauty is not one of my favorite cup of teas, I must say I enjoyed way more than the Cullberg version that I saw in Milano years ago and was so far my favorite transposition till now.
I'm looking forward to see Rachel Lawrence's interpretation of Aurora, as soon as she is always my favorite dancer in the company for reasons I cannot explain.
Does beauty need a reason?
Thanks TLT for giving me again such a strong emotion, giving all yourself to me (and to the whole public) as a gift, letting me believe again that dance is a strong way of expression and one of the best forms of visual art.
And, yes, sure, the biggest thanks goes to Kathleen, like always, for being able once again to make such a magic thing possible.
Feeling beloved.
Andrea Maria
